Lizzie runs The Book Detectives, a children’s book box company which aims to help as many children as possible develop reading confidence so they can access the magic of reading. Lizzie approached SK Design Studio to develop a brand identity for her business and I chatted with her about her experience of that process.
Hi Lizzie, what’s The Book Detectives all about?
The Book Detectives is all about encouraging children to develop a love of, and a confidence for, reading. We put together boxes, which get sent out in the post, to provide children with the tools, the confidence and the love for reading to learn.
I used to be a primary school teacher and I love helping children to develop reading confidence so they can access the magic of reading. We create every box with care, across three broad reading ranges, and all our packaging is recyclable.
For every book box we sell we make a donation to The Children’s Foundation and we try to make sure the reading contained in the boxes is enjoyable for the whole family.
Why did you decide to work with SK Design Studio?
When I came to launch my business back in 2020 I needed a whole brand identity and logo. I had been following SK Design Studio for a while and I loved your style and your approach to design. After my initial contact with you, we organised to have a cuppa over Zoom to find out how we could work together and I knew right from the start of that conversation that I’d chosen the right designer. You had so much enthusiasm, talent and professionalism so I knew I was in safe hands.
What work did we do together?
You worked with me to create an entire brand for my business. It included logo design, packaging design, stationery design, badges, bookmarks, thank you cards, activity sheets – the whole shooting match!
I was over the moon when the whole brand package came back looking so amazing. It really gave me the confidence to launch the business with a really strong brand identity and consistency across my packaging, stationery, social media. It’s helped my personal confidence, knowing that I can offer a really great quality product too.
You really understood the brief – I needed my products to stand out and be fun, unique and memorable gifts for children to receive.
Would you recommend my services to other businesses?
I would highly recommend you. I absolutely loved the process and felt it was extremely collaborative. I felt like we were a real team and was so pleased with the finished results. You were so good at offering advice to a new small business owner.
